I have done a great deal of research into my Hallissey family lineage. My GGGF was Peter Hallissey/Hallisy, 1813-1871. He lived in Lettergorman, near Drinagh, West Cork. I have a large amount of information on his 10 children and their descendants if anyone is interested. There is one mystery I would like to solve. At some stage, approx 1880-1920, the family adopted the surname Mahony to become Hallissey-Mahony. I would dearly love to discover why this was done.

Hello,
my daughters first name is Hallisey. She is named after her great - great grandmother, Elizabeth Hallisey from County Cork. THere was a photo of her that always hung on my husbands grandmothers wall. When the photo was taken down, the back fell off and there was the history of thi swoman, it was so reminiscent of the history along with names that my husband and i had. I was pregnant for my daughter at the time and both of our families are pretty blond and blue eyed, when our daughter was born she looked like the woman in the photograph with red hair and brown eyes, it was almost eerie but yet very real and a wow moment for us. We had long admired th ephotograph/ picture that we knew immediately this had to be our daughters name and so it is, We reversed the Elizabeth Hallisey to Hallisey Elizabeth and she is definitely a Hallisey; loving, kind and tempermant and all. Would lov eto hear from you all
